Inbee Park determined to perform well at Waterloo
South Korean Inbee Park is firm to take on rivals at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, scheduled to be played from June 21-24, at Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
Park displayed a superb performance at the Wegmans LPGA Championship 2012, played at Locust Hill Country Club, New York. She posted an overall 286 to finish, tied for the 9th place on the leaderboard.
The Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012 is going to stage a tough battle among 144 players. According to the tournament officials, the field has been set, with most of the top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars.
Park appears to be in high spirits these days, especially after the second major tournament of the 2012 season.
Analysts said that it will not be easy for the South Korean star to face contenders, like Stacy Lewis, who is among the hot favourites for the coveted title.
Key players confirmed for the Manulife LPGA Classic 2012 include Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, American Cristie Kerr, Gerina Piller, Suzann Pettersen, Christel Boeljon, Ai Miyazato, Caroline Hedwall, Amy Hung, Natalie Gulbis and Michelle Wie.
Although Park tumble to the 9th spot, from the 3rd, in the final round, she was satisfied with her performance after finishing among the top-10.
Speaking to the media during the Wegmans LPGA Championship, the young golfer said that she was glad that she got off to a very good start. She admitted that after the first round, she lost momentum and slipped to a lower position on the leaderboard.
She went on to say that the upcoming events are going to be considerably tougher, but was keen to point out that she has been training hard on the practice range.
“It's playing much tougher this year because I think they narrowed the fairways and the rough is a lot longer than all of the other years that we played.  I am really used to seeing this golf course because I play this golf course so many times and it was
playing easier,” Park said.
“Any tournament would be good for me but especially being a Major, and I really like the tough golf course so I think that's going to give me some advantage”.
