Inbee Park eager to grab second back-to-back LPGA victory
Defending champion Yani Tseng may have played down the hype of coming LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012, but Inbee Park appears all set to continue her winning streak by grabbing her second
straight LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) title in South Korea this week.
The LPGA Hana Bank Championship is set to start from October 19-21, at Incheon, South Korea, with the current world number one Tseng seeking to defend her title, but Park poses a serious challenge
to rivals after she routed them at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 last week.
Park is capable of winning her second back-to-back title at Incheon—not just because of her fresh triumph, but her much-improved game has also put her in a strong position as she has been
working hard on her swing and putting in the recent past.
Speaking during the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Park said that she is happy with the way things are going in her professional career.
She said she has improved her form in the current season, as she had to reshape every aspect of her game.
Once regarded as a straggler with her putting, Park has now fixed persistent flaws in her game, making her strokes more perfect and balanced.
“I think my golf has improved, everything, hitting the ball, chipping, putting. Everything has really improved. I worked really hard on my swing,” Park said at the end of the final round
of Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012.
Observers said that the South Korean star has not changed her putting grip, but a rigorous training certainly has made her change her style, which has been very helpful.
The Evian Masters 2012 was another demonstration of Park’s solid putting as she stood her ground on tricky holes, shooting an overall score of 271 to grab a two-stroke lead against Karrie
Webb of Australia and world number two Stacy Lewis.
Observers said that it remains to be seen how the 2012 Sime Darby winner faces stars like Yani Tseng, Na Yeon Choi who finished runner-up in the last edition of LPGA Hana Bank Championship,
Stacy Lewis and Suzann Pettersen.
