Inbee Park jumps to 13th in world rankings after Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012
South Korean Inbee Park has jumped to the 13th position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings after her stunning performance at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012.
Park performed well at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 staged at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Ohio, as she finished tied for the third spot on the leaderboard after posting an overall 272.
The South Korean star was brimming with confidence when she kicked off the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) event at Ohio, as she had vowed to do her best this time.
Although she could not clinch a victory, her better-than-expected performance helped her remain in contention till the final moments of the tournament.
Finishing tied for the third spot at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic has helped the LPGA titan rise two spots, as she was standing at the 15th before she teed off at Ohio.
Analysts said that now that Park has boosted her position, she will participate in the coming tournament with more confidence, as the professional golfer has repeatedly vowed to become number one golfer in
Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Park’s overall performance at Ohio was worth paying attention to, but posting a 65 in the second round helped her receive plenty of appreciation and she was able to strengthen her position on the leaderboard
in the next two rounds.
Speaking to the media at the end of the second round, the South Korean prodigy said that she was more than thrilled after she carded such a huge score in the second round. She said that she gained much-needed
confidence after that and it also became much easier for her to remain in contention till the last day.
She went on to say that she had been playing average in tournaments before her victory at the Evian Masters 2012. However, after she won the LPGA tournament in July this year, she felt that her game needed
to be fine-tuned in order for her to add more victories to her profile.
“I improved a lot compared to last year. Especially winning Evian, that gave me a lot of confidence playing this week. I'm feeling a lot more comfortable around the golf course,” Park said.
