Inbee Park romps to second position in second round of Lorena Ochoa Invitational

South Korean Inbee Park was able to make a quick charge in the second round of Lorena Ochoa Invitational as she carded a 68 to take the second position on the leaderboard.
Park started off with confidence at the prestigious Guadalajara Country Club, Mexico, as she shot a dazzling 67 in the first round. However, with other players having made an even brighter
start on Thursday, the South Korean star had to settle for the fourth position along with four other contenders.
American Michelle Wie was finally able to snap out of a jittery mode on the first day of the four-round tournament as she shot a 66 to share the lead with Angela Stanford and Candie Kung.
But Park stood her ground, despite having failed to take the lead or the second position. She swung into action after Wie tainted her position by shooting a 75 in the second round.
Park fully capitalised on the lapses made by Wie and Kung who also came crashing down to a lower position after carding a 71.
Park started the second round by firing two back-to-back birdies on the first two holes. She then parred two holes in a row and launched another birdie on the par-4 5th.
Handling the ball well, the LPGA titan once again impressed local spectators by reeling off two straight birdies.
On the back nine, Park could not fire any birdie. She faltered on the par-3 17th and ended up carding a bogey.
Speaking to the media at the end of the round on Friday, Park said that she was glad that her putting was exceptionally well in the second round, helping her remain in contention right from
the start.
“It looks like on the front line, I had two different nines today. On the front line, everything went perfect.  I hit the ball great and putted real good on the front nine,” said Park who
has racked up three LPGA titles so far in her professional career.
“As I turned to the back nine, I just didn’t give myself enough chances for a birdie. Didn’t hit it close enough.  And number 17 I missed a short one for a bogie, but that was pretty much
my only mistake today”.
