Inbee Park set to take "good side of the runner‑up finishes"
South Korean Inbee Park, who finished second at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012 last week, said she is happy with the way she has finished in most of tournaments in the current season.
Speaking at the end of the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012 that saw her post an overall score of 272, Park said that her goal was to win the title here in Taiwan, but a runner-up finish
cannot be written off as meaningless.
She said that she has been lucky in most of the events in the current season as she has now recorded many second-place finishes—something crucial to boost her position in the world rankings.
Thanks to the latest performance, the South Korean star has now jumped to the fourth position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, and is seeking to further move up when she participates in
the coming LPGA tournaments.
In addition to the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship, Park recorded two straight runner-up finishes at the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 and CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012.
Moreover, she took the share of second position at the Safeway Classic, held in August 2012, and Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012.
Commentators said that Park might have failed to rack up a title in Taiwan last week, but she has proved her mettle by recording several strong finishes in a single event, and that is why
she is getting closer to number one spot by the day.
Park has also expressed her hope that that solid finishes will open the way for her to further cement her position on the money list.
“Sometimes I look at my stats, and I mean it's great because I have a lot of runner‑up finishes, and when you have a lot of runner‑up finishes, you know that you are really close to winning
and try to take the good side of the runner‑up finishes and try to learn from other players' play. And maybe next time I will win,” Park said at the end of Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012, last Sunday.
“I think today was playing totally different than the last three days I played this golf course”.
