Inbee Park surges to 15th position in world rankings
South Korean Inbee Park has surged to 15th position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings on the back of her latest victory at the Evian Masters 2012.
Park was standing outside the top 20 before she came to participate in the Evian Masters, but her solid performance has helped her jump 6 spots to stand at the 15th.
According to the details, another significant change has been seen in the second position. American Stacy Lewis, who ranked third in the world rankings, has now toppled South Korean Na Yeon Choi from her second
spot.
Moreover, current world number one Yani Tseng maintained her position even though she bowed out of the Evian Masters 2012 after displaying a woeful performance. Tseng missed the cut in the tournament, but according
to the total points, the Taiwanese star is still in the strongest position.
Park, who has now added yet another victory to her profile, is set to move forward on the LPGA (Ladies professional Golf Association) Tour. The South Korean star won her first victory at the 2008 US Women’s
Open, one of the major tournaments on the LPGA.
After hoisting the trophy at the Evian Masters 2012, Park spoke to the media and expressed her feelings about how she has improved her game since becoming a major champion in 2008. The star golfer said that
she is in her best form now, and will try to further improve her game.
Park added that she had been a bit troubled about not being able to win an event. But now with her second professional victory on the LPGA Tour, she will further boost her world ranking.
“I wasn't playing good on the LPGA Tour after the win in the U.S. Open.  After that I was just trying to find a place that I felt more comfortable.  But I was never going to give up LPGA.  The more I play over
in Japan, the more -- I was getting confidence over there.  Playing over here with that confidence helped me a lot,” the LPGA titan said.
“I have a lot more friends on the LPGA Tour and I been on the tour long here.  I really feel comfortable on the LPGA Tour.  I really like playing”.
