Inbee Park to play Mizuno Classic with improved long game
South Korean Inbee Park has said that rigorous practice has helped her improve her long game in the last three years, and now she is more confident than ever before.
Park is gearing up to take part at the Mizuno Classic 2012, set to be staged from November 2-4, at Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club, Shima-s**+, Mie, Japan, but her fans think that she is
the hot favourite, given a stellar performance in the current season.
With her long game having been buffed up, Park will have to focus on her short game as well, as the course has greens suitable for that kind of playing style.
“I feel really comfortable with my ball striking and my putting and everything. I’m really comfortable with the game,” Park said during her pre-tournament interview on Wednesday.
Park pointed out that putting will play a pivotal role in helping players perform well this week as the course has most of the holes that require short-range putts.
“I really like the way I’m playing. I’ve been getting a lot of confidence over the last three months, especially with my long game. My swing is getting really comfortable”.
She said that her plan is to score as low as she can, but will have to keep an eye on other players’ scores as well.
“Early this season I was getting a little bit shaky with my swing and the putter but as the season goes by it kind of takes place over the few months. I’ve just gotten really comfortable and
it feels like my swing now,” she spoke of how she went through a change in her game.
Observers said that, so far, weather conditions have not been troubling at all, as calm winds swept through the course on Wednesday. They said that it is forecast that the weather conditions
will remain almost the same, with only the slightest change in winds.
Park has emerged as one of the key contenders on the LPGA Tour in the recent weeks, having grabbed the top spot on the money list.
Observers said that although there is still room for improvement that can help her rise to the top in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, eleven top-ten finishes speak of how things are going
in her professional career these days.
