  1. I heard mixed reviews about Intrepid. They're also known as GAP Adventures and some people I met who traveled with them had an awesome time, and others....didn't.

We went with United Mice & LOVED them.

If you've already booked w Intrepid, then don't worry about it. I'm sure they'll be great. They are definitely well-known.

We went last summer & it was fantastic. It does get cold at night, but besides that it's nice.

Try to get some DEET spray from REI that you spray on your clothes so that they're protected for like 10 washings or so. It will totally help you from getting bug bitten. I didn't get a single bite, but some people were tortured.

There are tons & tons of stores in Cusco that sell pretty much everything you'll need for the trail, including bug spray, but you won't be able to find the spray for your clothes there.

Bring Benadryl or some other allergy medication. It's hard to find any there & tons of ppl had allergy flare ups. It's a good idea to bring something like Simply Sleep, too.

The tenting is fine on the trail. The sites are actually nicer than I expected.

I'm an LA girl & I'm not into roughing it AT ALL.....but I had an awesome time on the trail. Trust me. If I can do it, you can do it.
