i know water reactivates the chemical, so don't use water. what about milk? milk is a natural neutralizer , if you eat something spicy milk will kill the sting. what about using milk on the skin? anyone know?

  1. If you are planning on getting hit with pepper spray, why not acclimate yourself to it instead of trying to figure out how to wash it off?  You do realize that you can build up the equivalent of an immunity to the effects of pepper spray, right?  Mace and CS are a different matter, well, to a point; the human body can develop amazing resistance to a variety of things.

By the way, water contains as many bacteria as milk, actually more since milk is pasteurized and water is not (unless you are using sterile saline).

  2. I've been hit with the stuff more times then I like to count.....a quick rush of water over the head then just air dry yourself....it's going to burn like crazy in the meantime but it goes away in about 45 minutes.  Just when you get into the shower afterwards don't tilt your head down and use a LOT of soap :)

  3. Yes , this is indeed a proper treatment.

Although I have found pepper spray to be tolerable. Mace , on the other hand is foul offensive stuff.

  4. Well it works when eating taco at least.

    GO FOR IT

  5. They sell small napkins kind of like baby wipes, that were specifically made to remove the chemical.  You can buy them off of first responder/ cop websites like Galls.

As for water, thats the first thing we used both times I went through the class.  Also, you eventually have to take a shower and get whatever is left off of your skin, so get used to water.

  6. It's not that water reactivates the chemical. Capsaicin, the active component in peppers, just isn't water-soluble, it's fat-soluble. To get it off your face, use a fatty liquid, like milk.

  7. actually i have never seen mild used.  And while water does reactivate it, the trick is to have your eyes and face under a constant stream of running water. Like for about 20 min.  Or just tough it out and the effects of the spray will lessen in 35-45min.  Trust me, i spent more time flushing out the eyes of cops who accidentally sprayed themselves or each other. The would be the ones moaning about it while the perps normally fine with just letting it ride out.  Milk contains a lot of bacteria, and putting that in your eyes might not be the best idea.
