Include Me Out kept Ellafitz at bay to complete her hat-trick in the Marjorie Handicap
Jay Em Ess Stable’s 4-year-old filly, Include Me Out, has started her 2012 campaign with a hat-trick in three graded stakes races, as she completed her 3 race win streak for the new season in the Grade 2, $150,000 Marjorie L. Everett Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park on 19 May, 2012.
Bob Baffert trained Ellafitz and John Sadler trained Zazu were the only real competitors for Include Me Out in the 1 1/16 mile race for 3-year-old and up fillies and mares that reeled in 6 runners to run over the cushion track.
Previously, the Ronald Ellis trained filly, Include Me Out started off the new season with a win in the Grade 2 La Canada Stakes at Santa Anita Park at about 1 1/16 miles.
Joe Talamo and Include Me Out were in a field that reeled in Great Hot and Tiz Flirtatious, both extremely lethal when at their best, but Include Me Out showed how tough she has become over the winter, and in her first outing downed Great Hot in second and Tiz Flirtatious followed in third, with Include Me Out completing her trip in 1 minute and 41.89 seconds.
The Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita Park was next for the filly, and with a stretched out distance of 1 1/8 mile she had her work cut out.
However, Joe Talamo has been riding this filly for long, and both of them have their ups and downs last year, and by now he knows how to pull her out trouble, and she responds far more better after their 6th ride together on 17 March, 2012.
In the Marjorie Everett Handicap, Ellafitz broke out and set the pace coupled with Rafael Bejarano, and the pair got the opening quarter mile in 24.73 seconds, it took 48.75 seconds for the half mile marker and topped six furlongs in 1 minute and 12.84 seconds.
Rounding the bend, Include Me Out bid for the lead and led by a length at mid-stretch. Ellafitz wasn’t done, as she came again, but under some urging from Talamo, Include Me Out got home and defeated Ellafitz in second while Zazu finished fourth.
