Inclusion Essay?

Question

I need some ideas of what I can do for my essay that is due in 3 weeks. This is my an example of my assignment:

Write a 1600 to 2000 word essay on one aspect of including children with special needs into an early childhood education program. (Topics must be pre-approved by instructor). Use and site at least three sources. One source may be the text and only one may be from the World Wide Web. Include what you believe to be the benefits and challenges of full inclusion and how you would address the challenge

As a balencing act who wins. Did they get what they need??? I am talking about both groups.

I did a research paper back last fall on the NCLB Act and what I found was very disturbing. There were states that forged test scores, there were states that lower standards, and there states that lumped students proficient and partially proficient students together so they can obtain more federal funding. The federal government was too stupid to know any difference that was until I faxed this same research paper straight to the Secretary of Education and President Bush, himself.

I even heard that there were some school that gone as far as denying the disabled students the right to pass to the next grade unless the student made at least a "C" in all classes and they do this in the name of The NCLB Act. You can have a field day with this one, because I did.

These same states that did this used the excuse "We don't have the funding for special education", "We don't have the proper staff", and my favorite "The disabled, regardless of how mild the disability might be, would be more fitted in a special school." The funny part about is the fact that the state of Texas, which is one of the richest states in America, was among the states that used these same excuses.



You can even go as far as listing some of the people that were learning disabled and still made an impact on society as a whole. I have to admit when I faxed my research paper to them I also faxed this very same list to them. I think it it did some good because I found out in April, some 3 1/2 months  after I faxed this paper to them I read in the paper that all disabled students are going to use a modified version of the same test to aduquately measure the student's progress throughout the year. We shall see.
