Inclusion (autism) in Corona/Norco?

Considering moving to Corona. Anyone have kids attending schools there as fully-included students....particularly as kids with high-functioning autism? Really trying to see which districts have good programs at the middle school level. Appreciate any comments. Thanks!

  1. I'm not in Corona/Norco but close to the area. I have had Autistic children in my class and did pretty well to provide a good educational experience because I had only 20 students in the third grade. I found though as the children got older and into classes with 30 to 35 students it was impossible for the teacher to meet the needs of these special students. Each child is individually evaluated and the district will make a recommendation for placement based on the least restrictive environment for that child where they can be successful. If your child needs extra help you might not want them fully included into our large California classrooms. Some students do well when placed in a classroom with RSP services. In that way they receive some small group and one on one help. My best advise to you is to go to the school where you would be enrolling your child and talk with the principal and staff before you make any permanent decision. California has strict guidelines for special students and all disticts will accomodate your child according to these guidelines.
