Question:

Income Tax in Australia?

by  |  earlier

My employer takes out income tax out of my payslip every week.

However, I don't work 12 months a year, meaning I earn less than 6k, the tax free threshold.

How do I get that taxed money back.

  1. you need to file a tax return to the ato, you can do this online or you can go into a H&R or somewhere like that and they will do it on your behalf, i took mine to tax tips in hurstville

  2. What you do, I'm pretty sure, is just fill out a tax return form thingy.

If you list all you're income, what your boss taxed you etc you should get a tax return from the government.
