I already asked this but I have better numbers and details:

I will make $33,865 gross. I will pay $3,285.25 in federal and $1,180.00 in state. I am single.

Will I get a refund or have to pay?

I'm trying to determine the number of allowances to break even or get only a little back.

  1. You can always add details to your original question.  I always check back on the answers I give.  Anyway, before I wrote that you will owe $3443 in federal tax.  For your question above do you mean that you will pay $3285 or that you have withheld $3285 for federal tax??  Now I am getting confused.  As I read this right now, you have withheld $3285, but will owe $3445 so you will have to pay a net tax of $150 or so, but we have 3 months left in 2008 for you to withhold more.  If this is true, then your W-4 withholding is about right.  Add more clarification if you want me to explain.  ** TO add:OK, then it looks like you are right on with your W-4.  For your previous question, you added in FICA, Medicare, etc mistakenly I guess?  Good luck-sorry to disappoint that not a big refund!
