I recently sold a portion of my coorporation to someone who is now a partner, but I own the majority of the stock. My question is can I sell my portion, which is the controlling portion and Im the president to a new person without consulting or getting aproval with my partner?

Sorry my spelling is not good cuss Im typing fastttt.

  1. It depends on the terms of your agreement.  Does the partner have first right of refusal?  If not, you can sell.


  2. The person who purchased your stock is not a partner.  There are no partners in a corporation.  If you signed an agreement giving your minority shareholder the right of first refusal or right of approval or that, in any way limited your ability to sell the stock, then you are bound by the terms of that agreement.  Otherwise, you may sell to anyone.
