Incorrect Dating Scans or Not Pregnant?

I have already gone through childbirth, however, since each pregnancy is different, I am not equipped to answer some questions that a close friend of mine has. She is currently pregnant (initially thought that she was 7 weeks), but had a dating scan and is now being told that her uterus looks about 4 weeks, or that she possibly may not even be pregnant. They're testing her HcG levels now to see if the numbers are doubling as they should... has anyone heard of this, or been through this? I want to comfort her, and hopefully help her get through this time, and would appreciate any suggestions or experiences. Thanks!

In December 07, I had a routine ultrasound scan done at what I thought was 10wks but the Pregnancy sac only measured 7wks and there was no fetus.. I was totally Devastated!  I was asked to return for another scan the following week and the sac was still empty, It was then confirmed that I had a 'Blighted Ovum' This is where the baby fails to develop in the sac due to unforeseen reasons!

Sounds like this could be what has happened to your friend, I feel so sorry for her as something like this is so unexpected!

maybe something got missed somewhere and if she is indeed only 4 weeks it would not be unheard of at all to not see anything. I wish her the best

I could possibly mean that she had a missed pregnancy. Means that she was pregnant but no baby formed in the sac. It is just like a miscarriage but the body doesn't get rid of it.
