Question:

Increase running speed?

im a slow runner.

thats that.

about a 15min mile is right.

need to get down to 11mins.

how?

how long?

tired of being last in gym class.

please help me!

  1. When I was going through Basic Training for the Army I found sprints to be the best method to improve quickly. I went from a 16:35 two mile to a 13:09 in nine weeks. I would suggest 60 sec. of sprint and 120 sec. of slow jogging. I would then repeat this until you hit your desired distance. I usually do 2 - 3 miles.


  2. I can understand totaly I used to be a slow runner until I started athletics, gymnastics, netbal, and went to the gym through out the week. What I would recomend is starting a sport or dance. Do you have walk ways? maybe? go for runs twice a week or at interval or lunch instead of gossiping (f you do that) get with a group of mates and play a game eg: ball tag! I played that at school today it was great fun and great exercise! Chat with teachers to start a running club? at home jog on the spot or sit on the ground leg together straight in front of you and move your arms as fast as you can like your sprinting?

  3. thats not speed thats indurance. to increase indurance all you can do is run and run alot. run up stairs eat better go on a diet. thats about it.  

  4. Try running a mile up hills and not all on flat ground.  or run with weights

  5. the only way you can get down to a faster mile is practice running miles around the neighborhood
