Incredible show of defending champions Trentino BetClic in the Club World Championship opener
The 2010 European Champions and last year’s gold medallist of the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship, Trentino BetClic held off Russian Dynamo Moscow for 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, and 27-25) victory in the opening match on Thursday, 16th December, 2010.
The Men’s Club World Championship is underway in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. The championship was kicked off on December 15 and participating teams played their first preliminary round matches. A total of 8 men’s teams are playing at the Club World Championship.
Trentino BetClic of Italy is one of the top contenders of this tournament. The Italian team demonstrated a wonderful performance and bagged victory in their first match.
Russian team had great potential and they were likely to exhibit better performance. However, the team couldn’t overcome the power of stronger Italian side and suffered the loss of first game. Trentino BetClic was equipped with all the necessary tips and
tricks to post an easy defeat on the rival side. They stole the show by beating Russian side in straight sets. The combination of explosive attacking and solid defence allowed the defending champions to clinch victory. The Al-Gharafa Sports Hall echoed the
happy slogans of Trentino fans. The Italians showed their intent to secure the title for another year.

The match was opened on a good note. The players of both teams played with great energy and uproar of fans added more thrill in the game. Each side was in try to make a difference and take a lead. However, it proved to be a tight affair. The determined Dynamo
Moscow’s team found strong rivalry in the form of Trentino BetClic’s team. Alexey Kazakov of Dynamo Moscow produced excellent serves, while Peter Veres hit smashing shots. The Italian players were in unique receiving positions. They tackled the speedy spikes
with great skill and returned the ball in Russian half. Jan Stokr of Italian team was very quick on the net. He helped his team’s score to rise up and Trentino BetClic picked up a lead of 16-13.
The Russian side hit back and earned 4 consecutive points, which put 17-16 on the scoreboard. The tussle continued and score tied at 18-all but Russians broke the tie. Dynamo Moscow retook the lead with 21-20. Beyond this point, Russia could add just one
more point in their score but Trentino BetClic achieved the match point. The first set ended at 25-20 with Italian win.
After dropping the first set, Russia came strong on Trentino BetClic. They scored three consecutive points, while Italy was yet to be on the board. Jan Stokr formed good combination with Kaziyski and stormed opponents’ half with long court shots. Trentino
BetClic built a lead of 8-6 at the first technical timeout. Afterwards, Trentino BetClic remained ahead in the game. They extended their lead to 16-14 and continued with success up till the ending of second set. Italian team closed the second set with 25-23.
Trentino was in good position after two sets’ win in a row. They opened the third set with 5-2 lead. Russian side tried hard and managed to tie the score at 9-9. The exchange of heavy shots continued for solid 30 minutes. Nonetheless, the defending champions
proved to be too good for Russian Dynamo Moscow and claimed third set.

Jan Stokr of victorious side topped the scoring charts with his valuable 16 points. He played at opposite’s position and earned points with his skilful blocking. He proved his endeavour in all fields of the game. He added 11 points via 22 attack attempts,
2 points through blocking and 3 points on serves. Italy’s Matey Kaziyski settled for the second best scorer in the game. He clipped 15 points by 26 attacks-attempts. Peter Veres was the only player in Dynamo Moscow’s team, who went for double digits. He put
up a great fight and incorporated 12 points in Russian team’s score.
