Incumbent Matt Moore leads Miami Dolphins trio competing to be starting QB -NFL News
The Miami Dolphins have refused to confirm if they have decided who will be their starting quarterback next season, but a number of independent reports claimed that the incumbent Matt Moore is leading the trio of players competing for the role.
It could be well within the guess of the franchise’s owner, Stephen Ross, who in one of his recent assessments backed Moore for competing on the position.
Interestingly, rookie, Ryan Tannehill, who some punters have seen to be posing a tough challenge to Moore and veteran, David Garrard, has rather disappointed his onlookers.
Even though the rookie had been rated to be among top three QBs out of this year’s draft, his lack of experience on the position was feared to be a factor that could push him back in his pro career prospects and ambition.
Now that point seems becoming true, as according to some of reports emerging from the workout both quarterbacks had done on Tuesday, May 29, Moore was clearly ahead of the rookie.
Yet some punters see the incumbent far from being perfect and they back him for harder work to improve his credentials for the role.
Meanwhile, Garrard has skipped organised team activities (OTAs) to be with his family because of some damage done to his home by a tropical storm that hit Jacksonville past weekend.
Garrard is very much seen settling down back at the number 3 spot, and after the disappointing show of skills by Tannehill, Moore looks to be the certain starter in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season.
The position is not final and definite for him, and Tannehill holds the chance of improving as the workout activities goes by and then preseason opportunity arrives.
The rookie can be entrusted with the leading role anytime during the season.
Apparently, the team has great expectations from the rookie and the managers are not willing to press the panic button at such an early stage by declaring him unfit for the role.
In one of his recent remarks, coach, Joe Philbin said they have set the deadline of August 24 to decide who they to assign the role.
