Question:

Indecisive about my last subject choice for Years 11 and 12?

I can't decide between a science subject (most likely Chemistry or Biology) OR Ancient History.

I'm still uncertain about my career.

Apparently, many uni courses require a science subject (is it good to arm myself with a science subject now?)

I don't mind science much, can you please tell me what is studied for Bio/Chem courses?

I guess I do enjoy history, esp. about ancient greece, but I can't say that I might later on..

Any suggestions/ information on the courses?

Thanks!

  1. If you are going into a science/tech career, you could benefit from taking an AP science course, because they are a pain to deal with in college. If you just take a regular science course it won't make much difference to your curriculum in college. If I were you I would take courses you feel comfortable with and try to get a high GPA so you can get into the college of your choice. However, the most important thing for a HS student in these times is to know what job you will have after you get out of college. Don't go to college until you know what job you are looking to get after college, or you could end up oweing 100,000 dollars in student loans for a useless degree!

  2. i say bio camp sure was fun!!

biology is pretty easy for me, all you do is memorize, use ALOT of metaphors...

and i keep hearing alot of my mates complaining about chemistry's too much homework...

i love bio but I have to drop my biology for my year 12

since i want to go for graphic design (ALOT of people are aiming for that one, dont know why...)

  3. If you are undecided on where you want to head then it is more likely that a science subject will open up more doors for you.  Based on what you are suggesting you are into and without a definitely course in mind I would go with biology.  Year 11 and 12 when I went through covered things like plants and animal cells, growth such as photosyntheses and genetics etc.  If you are not mathematically minded i would avoid chemistry it can actually get quite tricky.

  4. Be sure to use Wikipedia and / or Google to check out the advantages of taking Science Biology / Chemistry; but you have to understand, we cannot answer this question.

Me personally, I would take Biology; because it matches my young-minded interest better.

I would personally forget about Ancient history, career wise; I couldn't imagine it has much to offer you.

My advice is to choose Science. If you have a Science grade, or whatever from University, that'll count a good bit to your career (unlike Ancient History).

Be sure to check up on Wikipedia the great differences between Chemistry and Biology, and make your own decision darling :)

    Good luck!
