  1. www.childcareland.com has some free printables and learning sheets.

Remember that "writing" also entails hand strengthening activities, eye hand coordination, and such.  I wouldn't start him right out with writing letters but working more on the lines and shapes.

/\/\/\/\/\,\/\/\/\/, -------, overlapping circles, vertical lines etc.  Using sensory materials to "draw/write" in is a great way of doing it.  I like to provide a tactile letter or shape and show them with pointer and tall man fingers how to trace/write it correctly and then give them a "writing tray" (sand, sugar, gel, shaving cream etc.) to try and write/draw it themselves.  When you begin the letters start with those in his name.

    Good luck!

  2. try this link:

    http://www.preschoolprintables.com/

  3. This is one of the most valuable resources that I have found so far for preschoolers.

    http://www.ed.gov/pubs/CompactforReading...

It's directly from the government, giving you printouts of what preschoolers need to know for kindergarten. good luck!

  4. Personally, I think when a child enters JK or SK they should know how to print the alphabet.  It's the parents who are responsible for this child's education as well as teachers.

Read to the child.  Help them with their letters.

Have you seen the grammatical/proofreading errors on this site.  It makes me cringe.  And these are from adults.

The syntax usage of the English language makes me cringe.  I have a job where proofreading is an absolute must.  I'm very glad I have a solid command of the English language, will refer to the dictionary when unsure, and  use a thesaurus.

Parents need to get involved.   I was taught at an early age (I brought my reader home from school) and read each night, was taught phonetics in school & at home, was told to use the dictionary when in doubt.  Has stayed with me all these years.
