Indi Pindi leads the way to victory in A3 race at Sheffield
At the Sheffield Greyhound Stadium in Sheffield, the dogs that lead the pack often emerge as the winners of the 500m races. A little extra speed can go a long way, and it certainly did
for Indi Pindi, the winner of one of several A3 races on the schedule on Thursday 18 November.
A fast start from trap three allowed Indi Pindi, the 5-4 favourite, to move quickly away from the rest of the pack. She always held the lead, and never let go of it. Her time of 29.88
seconds secured her the top spot in this race. Russanda Royale (7-2) held an early pace, and was always handy. He went on to finish second in 30.08, 2½ lengths behind the winner.
Inagh Mel (5-1) had every chance to win the race, but ended up with a third-place finish. His time of 30.09 placed him a head’s length out of second place. Fourth place was claimed by
Donna’s Charm (6-1), who crowded first on the way to a 30.31 finish that was 2¾ lengths out of the top three.
A clear run wasn’t enough for Green Flash (4-1), as he went on to finish a shoulder’s length behind Donna’s Charm to earn fifth place with a time of 30.32. Rounding out the pack was Rochchase
Merv (6-1). He lost 1 ¾ lengths after crowing at the first bend, resulting in a last-place finish in 30.46.
In the A2 race that followed, Azzurri Westport (7-2) raced well and claimed first place as a result. He started well from trap four, and led at the fourth bend to take the win in 29.87.
The second-place finisher was Cossack Crafty (7-2), who led third to fourth. He went on to complete the race 1¼ lengths behind the winner in 29.97.
Candlelight Kid (6-1) moved slowly away from the pack and bumped first. However, he quickly rebounded to finish a neck’s length behind Cossack Crafty in 29.99. Bumping first and three-quarters
resulted in a fourth-place finish for Patterdale Rafa (5-1). He finished the race with a time of 30.05, missing the top three by only ¾ lengths.
Rockmount Ace (7-2) had a clear run, but it failed to propel him to victory. He took fifth place in 30.17, which was 1½ lengths out of the number four spot. Despite being the 7-4 favourite,
Demesne Lee finished in last place. He held an early pace from trap one, but lost some ground after crowding third. As a result, he ended up ¾ lengths out of fifth place in 30.23.
Greyhound racing returns to Sheffield Greyhound Stadium on Friday 19 October. The first race of the evening will begin at 18:38.
