India's fifth successive Test defeat abroad fazes Ganguly
The former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He has urged the team management
to investigate the matter, and fix the weaknesses in the camp.
India lost by 122 runs in the first Test, and an inexperienced Australian bowling line up was able to bowl out India cheaply in both innings. This has left the former skipper a little jaded.
"I am a little concerned that India has now lost 5 consecutive Tests abroad,” said Ganguly. “They lost 4 in England and now they have lost here. It is something that needs to be looked into and I am sure the team management will analyse what went wrong here,"
he further added.
This was the first test for the team outside of India in Test cricket since they were whitewashed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 4-0 in the summer. In that particular series, the formidable Indian batting line-up was unable to cope with the English bowlers, and the first Test
match saw a repeat of the same in this series; the Indian batsmen could not handle the Aussie quicks. The defeat in England cost India the No. 1 Test team status.
Ganguly, however, was positive that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 could make a comeback in the series.
"India has an experienced batting line-up and they can comeback into the series. But they really have to pull up their socks," the 39-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 cricketer added.
Ganguly was quick to praise the Australian Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, especially the faith he showed in the senior players.
"The captain is so important and Clarke has showed a lot of faith and respect in senior pros http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 and Mike Hussey…the young players have come through so well says a lot about his confidence in them,” said Ganguly.
He applauded http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120’s decision to bat first, as it sent a clear message to the opposing team that they were ready to take the pressure straight away.
The second Test of the four-match series starts in Sydney on January 3rd, 2012.
