  1. The Olympic games are a great source of revenue for the hosting country.  Organizing such an event takes a lot of time and resources.  There are a lot of corporate sponsors that kick in a great deal of money for this to happen.  It is good for the local economy in the short term.

However, it also displaces some people from their homes in oreder to provide places for the vast number of tourists to stay.  (This happened in Knoxville, Tennessee for the World's Fair in the 1980's.  People were displaced from their homes and my parents (I was a child) unknowingly were placed in one of those homes by a travel agent during our stay there.  They did not realize that this was the case until we checked in.  It was sad to know that a family had to leave to make room for tourists.)  However, the families are compensated for the loss of their homes.

After the event is over, it does boost tourism a bit for a while.  Long term benefits are uncertain.

  2. see poverty and hosting of international games is a different issue just like you may intake water but stop taking food for sometime  but they both are initially important  just like that india indirectly to develop and it has to host sports   to earn money of viewers etc

  3. I think its very compatible. Don't forget that India's level of poverty only seems larger compared to other countries because its the second largest populated country in the world. India already has examples of hosting sports, the biggest of all being cricket. They have stadiums all over India, and many international countries are often invited for tournaments, if this can be pulled off, then even though the olympics are much bigger, I don't see how with a bit of leg work, the Olympics could be a problem. I think it can work. But its likely that events would take place in a foreigner friendly city, i.e. Bangalore or Mumbai...
