The India A team’s head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lalchand-Sitaram-Rajput-c72139, has come out in defense of his under firing batting lineup following their failure in the second Test on tour of Windies where they are currently contesting in a unofficial Test series.
The Indian team’s strong batting lineup is criticised back home for their poor performances in another away series. Rajput defended the technique of his batsmen and told Indian Express, "There is no fault in their technique. Just a matter of application."
He said that his batsmen need to spend some more time on the pitch, "Once they spend more time, the runs will start to come," he added.
The team has some of the most promising names in its batting lineup, who according to many cricketing experts would finally replace the greats of Indian cricket, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 in the near future.
The lineup included http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-Tiwary-c1890, all of whom failed to make a mark except for one prominent innings of 94 in the first innings of the first Test by Sharma.
The Indians drew first blood after winning the opening game, courtesy captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CA-Pujara-c1209, who led from the front with a match-winning knock of 96 which clinched a thrilling 2-wicket victory.
The second Test however, was a forgettable affair as the tourists were bundled out on 94 in pursuit of a reasonable target of 220, failing to deal with the Windies’ bowling duo of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Veerasammy-Permaul-c94981, both of whom bagged 10 wickets among
them.
So far, the Indian have failed miserably upfront with Shikhar Dhawan scoring the highest score of 13 by any opener, despite the management trying different combinations. "It is very important for the openers to score. They have not clicked so far," Rajput
said. "We have the best batting line-up possible here and these boys have the ability to do well."
The Indian A skipper, Pujara, has been the pick of the batsmen, scoring 214 runs with three consecutive half centuries, including the all important 96. The coach however, knows the challenge at hand and expects his batsmen to bounce back in the decider,
"If these boys have to succeed at the highest level, they have to be ready for such things." The final Test will be played in Gros Islet from June 16.
