It is the responsibility of every govt; to give safe drinking water to citizens, but they failed in it. Still they collect sales tax on bottled drinking waters and water purifires.

It is the responsibility of every govt; to give uniform electric supply to citizens, but they failed in it. Still they collect sales tax on stabilizers, generators, U.P.S etc.

With out any shame like highway men governments collect road tax with out providing good roads & traffic system

They don't stop criminals from getting elected.

Not interested in controlling population for the fear of losing vote.

Bengladeshi, Pakistani & peoples from other countries r inflitrating into our country & carry out terrorist operations. Still some of our ministers is telling that "we can't throw them to the sea".

Parliament - a place where never a serious matter get finalised (n-deal, women reservation bills etc;) Most problems r solved here by an outing called boycott.

Do u still believe India is a democracy?

  1. Yes, it is!

This debate is never ending; the list will go on and on.

As every person in India is a corrupt national himself, u urself support corruption and then complain.

Have you never paid bribe to a RTO officer, just for your convenience? Coz if he takes ur driving license, u will have to go to their office and waste time to get it back. Even though the actual fine is less, people promptly pay them Rs 50 -500 Rs

Rs 50 – 100 for signal jumping, and 500 & above if u are using the mobile phone while driving.

My friends have paid in the tune of Rs. 3000 to Rs 5000 because they got caught drunk driving, and it has become a brisk business for RTO nowadays.

Similarly, for the new Gas cylinder,

    New Ration Card,

for ur Kids School/ College Admission,

For a new license (for any kind of license and registration in a government office)

If you want a Passport asap

If you want a PAN card asap

Boss, in India, people have INVENTED JOBS, that u will never find anywhere in the world! And that is the agents or dalals who get all this done for you.

So who is to blame? And how will things improve?

When u being an ordinary man, end up bribing so many people for small necessary things.

What do u expect big industrialists and builders and investors and constructors will do with politicians and government people ?

Even they bribe and make money coz the contracts they get in return are running in thousands of crores of rupees!

  2. The ans is tha India is a combination of a democracy and a banana republic.

  3. yupp......... I do believe!!

but guy you take a chill pill

  4. all these things like democracy, communism, Marxism mean nothing to lay men.

    these are mere words.

we have been blinded by people in the top league to believe in them while they actually don't have any utility to the common man.

strangely the job of any government is to make a govt irrelevant but why would they do this?

oh yes. india can not be classified as an ideal democracy but its not a banana republic either.

india is like a dog cart where there are many dogs which are running. its the govt which has kept these dogs in control and did not allowed any dog to go astray.

india would become another europe minus prosperity if there would be no govt.

  5. your question itself contains the answer though only a tip of the iceberg.  India is self sufficient but knows not it like samson.  The corrupt politicians, officials and yes the public do not allow the nation to prosper.  Just compare the wedding expenses in a minister or actors family with that of a poor village household.  This is the egalitarian society that Mahatma dreamed of ?

  6. It is only in a democracy you can get away with the question you have posed. In a banana

republic, within half an hour after the question is on the board, you would have been toast or rather, shark bait.It is so easy to be censorious.

People like you should come forward to join

politics and rectify the ills you have pointed out.

As a first step, start with identifying the infiltrators in your locality and stand against the sitting MLA or MP of your constituency.Good

    Luck.

  7. Average Indian youth  is pathetically un patriotic. They r busy worshipping Bolywood pimps or their own welfare.80% of them have no time for issues that face India.

What keeps us ticking however is the cultural family values and emphasis on education. These 2 values has stopped us from decending into a Bannana Republic. We r  a pretty smart lot and sometimes slow to change, but my gut feeling is ,we will make remarkable progress with more public awarness that comes with education.

  8. Banana is better than politics in this country.

    Banana is good for health.

  9. It is certainly not a banana republic. It has come of age. There is a strong Press and by and large independent judiciary. A very aware middle class educated mass is its strength. Do not be disheartened by the negative points you have given. Look up for the positives. Things will take a better turn, once we economically progress further and poverty is alleviated to a large extent.

  10. I think it is because we the citizens of India do not force the government to provide these. Now you may ask how?

Well who do you think elects the government in India. People who vote and guess what most middle class people do not vote. So the government that comes to power comes because of the lower class people electing them which are mostly uneducated and follow a herd mentality. So we have governments giving benefits to those who matter to them the lower class not because they are of the lower class but because they vote. Thats is the reason why the encroachments are not demolished or the hawkers removed from the streets or rice being sold at Rs. 2/Kg when the food prices are going through the roof or the petrol prices are not increased to match it to global fuel prices or the reservation for the lower castes.

So my friend if you want to make a difference collect your friends and make sure you go out and vote. Once you become a vote bank to the government you will be mazed how they would listen to you. If one does not ask for quality then one will not get it.

I still believe India is a democracy just that not enough intelligent people have started voting for the resulting government to be intelligent.
