India Open 2013: R. M. V. Gurusaidutt beats Srikanth K. to surge into Men’s Singles quarter-final
India’s lofty player R. M. V. Gurusaidutt continued his impressive winning streak and reached into Men’s Singles quarter-final after defeating his compatriot Srikanth K. in round-of-16 clash at Yonex Sunrise India Open 2013 on Thursday, April 25, in New
Delhi.
The in-form Gurusaidutt, who has been earning respectable results at international stage for the last couple years, remained on the right track in this major tournament on home soil and remained successful in breaking into the top-eight bracket of players
at India Open.
Gurusaidutt did not show any sign of pressure throughout the pre-quarter-final battle and managed to wrap up an inspiring victory by finishing off the contest in straight sets in just 33 minutes with a commanding 21-12 and 21-16 score on the board.
In contrast, Srikanth could not stretch his impressive run in the championship as he failed to manipulate the loopholes of his country-mate and eventually crashed out without snatching any game from Gurusaidutt.
The in-form Gurusaidutt showed an amazing aggression in the arena from the starting rallies of first set by building a huge pressure on his rival.
The speed of the rallies was very fast in starting set and Gurusaidutt impressed local crowd with his unmatched skills.
Gurusaidutt progressed with a superb speed in the first part and stayed in lead on score board until the one-minute interval.
The incredible Gurusaidutt remained confident in the arena after the mid-game interval as he played with the same speed.
It was a smooth sailing for the aggressive Gurusaidutt who did not face any considerable fight from his opponent and won the first game with a sound 21-12 difference on the board.
Srikanth showed his talent in the second game when he played with great speed and aggression. However, he could not create a considerable gap at any stage that could help him to put pressure on his opponent.
On the other hand, Gurusaidutt increased his speed and started to control the affairs of rallies towards the end of opening half in the second game.
Gurusaidutt remained on track in the ending part of second set and remained successful in clinching the game with a reasonable 21-16 score on score board.
