India Open 2013: Ratchanok Intanon sends Sayali Gokhale packing in first round encounter
Thailand’s experienced player Ratchanok Intanon started her campaign with a winning note as she easily tamed her local opponent Sayali Gokhale in Women’s Singles first round of Yonex Sunrise India Open 2013 on Wednesday, April 24, in New Delhi.
The impressive Intanon, who has been placed at number three in Women’s Singles seeding in this championship, played with great confidence and easily showed exit to her lower ranked Indian challenger in a commanding manner.
Thai shuttler stared her campaign in a wonderful fashion as she played attacking and positive badminton all the way and easily outplayed her opponent in straight games with a huge margin of 21-8 and 21-12 in just 25 minutes.
On the contrary, the unseeded Sayali failed to live up to the expectations of Indian crowd as she could not play competitive badminton against her in-form challenger and eventually lost the battle without getting close.
In the starting set, the confident Intanon delivered a spectacular feat in the arena as she executed shots with impressive variations from initial rallies.
Intanon showed that she has achieved top quality skills on court and remained successful in taking a strong domination on court.
Until the end of starting half of starting game, the incredible Intanon attained a strong position on board by setting up a sufficient gap.
The underdog Sayali could not to create trouble for her rival after the mid-game interval as she lost her focus on court.
It was a smooth ride for the in-form Intanon who did not face any reasonable resistance from her rival and won the first set with a stunning 21-8 difference on the board.
The lower ranked Sayali worked hard to play positive badminton in starting half of second set but could not create pressure on her rival.
Until the end of first half, the impressive Intanon continued playing with control and variations and remained ahead on the board.
In the concluding part of second game, the lofty Intanon continued her power play and easily grabbed the second set with a big margin of 21-12 and ended up the contest in a lopsided manner.
