India Open: Rohit Yadav C. overpowers Vladimir Malkov in Men’s Singles qualifying round
India’s Rohit Yadav C. started his journey in a convincing fashion as he put up spectacular show and overpowered Vladimir Malkov of Russia in Men’s Singles qualifying round at India Open Super Series in India, on Tuesday, April 24.
Rohit, who has been working hard to find a good flow, showed tremendous performance and cheered the home fans by grabbing victory over his experienced Russian opponent.
The young and spirited Indian was in complete control of rallies and managed to win the battle in hard-fought three games.
Rohit was impressive in the court as he played with confidence and precision and overwhelmed Malkov in a thrilling rubber-set contest that took 54 minutes of top class badminton.
On the other hand, Malkov played well in the whole contest and also remained close in all three games. However, he could not taste victory as his Indian opponent showed better performance and won the contest.
In the opening set of this match, both shuttlers played fast badminton by employing attacking shots and progressed closely in the opening half.
Until the one-minute interval, the score remained close as both players were at the same level.
After the break, Rohit became aggressive at net as he did not let his rival to take advantage by playing net shots.
The score reached at 21-21 when Rohit showed his brilliance and scored the ending points to clinch the set with a 23-21 margin on the board.
In the second set, Rohit again proved his mettle as he played at his maximum speed and troubled his Russian opponent while remaining focused in the court. Until the break, he did not let Malkov to take a comfortable lead.
However, Rohit could not continue his positive play in the ending phase of second game and lost it with a respectable margin of 19-21.
The opening half of deciding game was interesting when both men stretched each other by playing to their maximum speed.
Nevertheless, Rohit took over the charge by playing aggressive badminton in all areas of the court and took the deciding game with a remarkable 21-16 score on the board.
Rohit managed to win this mouth-watering three-set contest with a dramatic margin of 23-21, 19-21 and 21-16.
