India Open Super Series: Nichaon Jindapon ousts Elizabeth Cann in Women’s Singles qualifying round
Thailand’s talented shuttler Nichaon Jindapon secured her berth in Women’s Singles main round after ousting Elizabeth Cann of England in the qualifying round of India Open Super Series 2012 in New Delhi, on Tuesday, April 24.
Jindapon was flawless on the first day of India Open as she did not show any sign of fatigue and wrapped up victory over Cann in a thrilling fashion.
The Thai shuttler put up superb show by playing attacking badminton and thrashed her English rival in straight sets with a completely one-sided score on the board.
On the other hand, Cann was helpless against the firework of her Thai opponent as she could not handle the pace of rallies and bowed down without taking any game.
In the opening set, Jindapon played with precision and remained positive in the court. She did not execute risky shots and remained quicker at net which helped her to build pressure on her rival.
In the meanwhile, Cann tried to tackle the aggressive approach of her Thai rival but failed to dictate the pace and remained far behind on the board.
Until the one-minute interval, it was Jindapon who was moving ahead of her English opponent with a convincing margin.
After the break, Jindapon continued her positive and inspiring play and did not let Cann to reduce the gap at any stage in the concluding half.
Jindapon was in complete command and wrapped up the opening set with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.
In the second set, Cann changed her strategy to deal with the aggression of Jindapon but failed to play positively.
On the other hand, Jindapon was fully focused in the game and she set up a sensational gap until the mid-game break.
After the interval, Cann tried to put up resistance by accelerating her speed but Jindapon was on a different level as she executed shots with wonderful variations.
The Thai lady maintained her good position in the whole contest and grabbed the set with a huge margin of 21-11.
Jindapon won this Women’s Singles qualifying round encounter with a 21-11 and 21-11 margin on the board.
