India Open: Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk trounces Anand Pawar in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Thailand’s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk showed a gutsy performance when he trounced India’s experience shuttler Anand Pawar at the India Open Super Series at New Delhi, India, on Tuesday, April 24.
Tanongsak, who has been struggling hard make his presence felt to the world, showed impressive performance when he defied all odds and toppled Pawar to enter into Men’s Singles main round of India Open.
The Thai player was everywhere in the court on the first day of India Open and remained successful in beating Pawar to advance into the next stage.
He was impressive in the whole contest and overpowered the in-form Indian in two sets with a remarkable margin on the score board.
On the other hand, Pawar was completely helpless against the power play of his Thai rival and crashed out without entertaining his home crowd.
In the first set, Tanongsak found a perfect start when he played with impressive aggression and executed his powerful shots in the gaps. His shot selection was incredible as he did not let Pawar to find a good rhythm.
In the meanwhile, the Indian tried to live up to expectations because he failed to cope up with the speed and power play of his opponent and remained miles behind on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Tanongsak continued his firework without showing any mercy to his local challenger and bagged the game with a superb 21-12 margin on the board.
In the second game, Pawar played slightly better as he matched the speed of Tanongsak in opening rallies and remained close.
However, Tanongsak took over the control and build a reasonable lead until the end of opening half in second set.
After the interval, Tanongsak maintained his performance in the game and did not lose his grip at any stage.
He was quite composed in the court and did not commit any mistake throughout the ending part.
The in-form Tanongsak clinched the second set in a spectacular fashion with a 21-14 score on the board.
Tanongsak overpowered Pawar in this qualifying-round fight by a comprehensive difference of 21-12 and 21-14.
