India announce Test squad for Australia; Harbhajan Singh ignored – Cricket News Update
India have named their squad for the four match Test series against Australia, which will kick off in December this year.
Veteran spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 was once again ignored for selection, as he has been struggling with form and fitness in the recent past.
The wily off-spinner was a part of India’s tour to England where he failed to make an impression in the first two Test matches of the four match series.
He was also unable to stay with the team for the remainder of the series due to an injury and returned home early.
However, Harbhajan announced that he was fully fit to take part in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament soon after the end of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
The 31-year-old also claimed that he was ready for any form of cricket, but was not considered for the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Spinners Pragyan Ojha and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 were given a chance to prove their mettle against the Caribbean Kings and they grabbed the opportunity with both hands, picking up a lot of wickets in the series.
Due to this, the Indian selectors have decided to retain the same spin bowling attack for the Australian tour and will be hoping that the duo can repeat the same performances they did against the Windies.
Other than Harbhajan, middle-order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539 were also ignored for selection, as they have been unable to cement their spot in the longest version of the game.
However, stylish batsman Rohit Sharma will be a part of the team touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the end of this year. He is yet to make his debut in Test cricket and might get an opportunity to do so against the Kangaroos.

Out of these players, Zaheer might not be able to take part in the series, as he is yet to prove his fitness to the selection panel.
