India announces squad for the series against West Indies Women, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jhulan-Goswami-c66974 retained as captain
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced its Women’s squad for the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 this month.
The 15-member squad was announced by the all-India selection committee on Saturday. The 27-year-old all-rounder, Jhulan Goswami has been retained as the captain of the home side.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 girl, who is noted for her remarkable performance with both bat and ball, was named as the vice-captain of the side during their 2006-07 tour of England during which she had guided the side to their ever-first Test series win.
Jhulan, an integral part of the team and the 2007 ICC Women’s Player of the year, was given the reigns of India national women’s cricket team on 1 February 2009 for the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup, which the Indian women finished with a bronze.
Indian Women are scheduled to play five One Day Internationals and three T20 games in the home series against West Indies Women. The opening one-day will be played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 on January 10, 2011, while all three T20 Internationals between the two outfits
will be hosted by Ahmedabad, from January 22 to 24, without a break.
The Caribbean women are also scheduled to play warm-up game against the Board President's XI squad at the MCA Recreation Centre, BKC, Mumbai, on January 8. The all-India selection committee also announced the Board’s President XI squad which will be led
by Diana David. The other three members of the national squad who are also part of the Board President’s XI team are Harmanpreet Kaur, Poonam Raut and the wicketkeeper Samantha Lobatto.
