India batsman Sachin Tendulkar gets huge sand cake on 38th birthday – Cricket news
An Indian sand artist, Sudarsan Pattnaik has started sculpting a huge cake on the beach of his hometown Puri as a birthday souvenir for Sachin Tendulkar, who will turn 38 on Sunday, April 24, 2011.
Pattnaik, who has won many prizes in international sand sculpting competitions all over the world, stated that 2011 is a special year for the maestro because of India’s memorable victory in the ICC World Cup after 28 years.
“That is why I am creating the bats and a big colourful birthday cake to pay tribute to the legendary cricketer,” Pattnaik said.
Tendulkar, who is busy in the ongoing Indian Premier League, will be celebrating his 38th birthday with his family and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians teammates.
Considered timeless by fans and contemporaries alike, Tendulkar’s appetite for runs is not over yet. He is only one short of his century of tons in international cricket. Tendulkar is the highest run-getter in both Test and One Day International cricket

The sand artist, Pattnaik, described that every Indian loves Tendulkar for his phenomenal work for the country over the last 21 years.
Pattnaik elucidated that he and the students of Golden Sand Art Institute have already begun working on the sculpture which will be ready for display by Saturday evening.
Pattnaik further explained that they are using 20 tonnes of sand and 38 bats to build the mighty cake. The artist also vowed to send the photographs of this sculpture to Tendulkar.
