http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 beat South Africa in one off T-20
India completed a comprehensive win against South Africa, in the only T-20 match of the tour. This was also the farewell game for South African fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Makhaya-Ntini-c73953 who sadly did not have the ideal final game with 46 runs in 4 overs. Batting first,
India gave the home team a target of 169, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina were the main contributors for the visitors. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 could not get partnerships going in the chase and Morne van d**e was the only man to make a substantial score and the home team
fell short by 21 runs in the end.
Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murali-Vijay-c78035 opened the batting for India and took the score to 18 for the first wicket. Vijay was
the first one to go he was caught by Van Wyk off the bowling of Wayne Parnell for 14 runs from 12 balls with 2 four.
Next man in was the right handed batsman Rohit Sharma, the man who played for Deccan Chargers in IPL’s first three seasons was very impressive right from the start. Sharma and Kohli took on the Protea attack and did not let any lose ball get away. The pair
added 49 runs for the 2nd wicket before Kohli was dismissed for 28 runs from 19 balls with 5 fours. Left hander Yuvraj Singh and Sharma put on 42 runs for the 3rd wicket before Rohit Sharma was caught by Ntini off the bowling of JP Duminy.
Yuvraj was next to go in the very next over for 12 runs from 13 balls. The big hitting Yousuf Pathan did not impress much and was dismissed for just 6 runs. Suresh Raina then got going and smashed 41 runs from 23 balls with 2 fours and 3 towering sixes to
propel the Indian score to 168 for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
South African reply did not start that well and Hashim Amla was sent back early for just 1 run, he was cleaned up by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Nehra-c46293. Colin Ingram was in next and he also managed just 2 runs before being caught by Praven Kumar off Munaf Patel. As wickets were
falling from one end Van Wyk was going strong from the other. He got some support from AB Devilliers and the two put on 57 runs for the 4th wicket. Devilliers was unfortunately run out for 14 and that was when South African innings really looked
to be heading in the right direction.
A lot was expected from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Miller-c53105 was the next man to go for just 10 runs, he was out LBW to Yusuf Pathan. South Africa’s hopes were really wiped away when
Van Wyk was finally dismissed for 67 excellent runs from 39 balls with 5 fours and 5 massive sixes. He was caught in the deep by Ashish Nehra off the bowling of Parevn Kumar. In the end, the Indians managed to contain the Proteas for just 147 runs and ended
up winning the only T20 match before the One Day series starts. Rohit Sharma was named man of the match for his 52 runs.
