India complete whitewash over New Zealand
There are very few matches, which have ended in such little time, as the fifth and final ODI between India and New Zealand. The visitors put up a dismal show and were unable to save a whitewash defeat at the hands of India.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 scored a decent total of over 300 in the fourth match of the series and finally ended the bad form in which they had been. Although the team was unable to win the match, they would have hoped to at least repeat their batting show in this match.
The New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori decided to bat first in overcast conditions after winning the toss. The team couldn’t have expected such a bad start after Martin Guptill was dismissed on a duck in the very first over.
Brendon McCullum quickly reached 14 runs smashing three boundaries and he was looking very dangerous. Unfortunately for his team, he lasted only 10 balls before getting out in the fourth over. Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 also looked positive but his innings lasted for just
nine balls.
New Zealand was again jolted by the early wickets and Jamie How along with Scott Styris tried to anchor the innings. After scoring a partnership off 43 runs, How got out in the 18th over. Styris followed him and the rest of the batsmen had no
answer to the Indian bowlers resulting in a collapse of the team for 103 runs.
James Franklin remained unbeaten but this time he lacked support of any other player. He scored a total of 17 runs and saw the batsmen walk in and walk out before all the batsmen were bundled.
The Indian bowlers continued to pick up wickets causing a collapse of the New Zealand team. Apart from Munaf Patel all other bowlers chipped in by picking up wickets. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravichandran-Ashwin-c84208 was the pick of the bowlers by taking three wickets. He was well supported
by Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Nehra-c46293, who grabbed a couple of wickets each.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424 was also not able to trouble the bowlers by much and he got out when the total was ten.
After the early couple of wickets, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parthiv-Patel-c2159 and Yuvraj Singh brought things under control. Both the batsmen made sure to lead their side to an easy victory. Parthive scored an unbeaten 56 following his maiden fifty in the previous match. Yuvraj also
supported him well by making 42 unbeaten runs.
After picking up a couple of wickets early, the New Zealand bowlers had no luck. Vettori and Nathan McCullum grabbed one a piece but it was not enough to challenge the Indian batting line-up.
The match ended after a total of 48.1 overs. India successfully completed their second whitewash in a five match ODI series. The last time they did this was against England in 2008. This will be a confidence booster for them heading to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. The
series has also made it easy for the selectors to determine the squad for the World Cup.
New Zealand’s team has been badly bruised by the Indians. They will look to gain some form of confidence against Pakistan in their home conditions. The defeat today meant that they have lost their 11th consecutive match. Their worst ever record
is 13 defeats in a row. They will be hoping that they can win some matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and end their losing streak.
