India defeat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mishra-c871 takes responsibility in the bowling department
After a comfortable victory in the first One Day International (ODI) of the ongoing five-match series, the Indian team continued their ruthless march and notched a comprehensive seven-wicket triumph (D/L method) against West Indies in the second ODI at Port
of Spain, on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Nehra-c873 is unavailable to play because of fitness issues. With two main bowling spearheads out of the Indian side, the series was a huge opportunity for the hosts to overcome woes in their batting
department. However, the attacking leg-spinner, Amit Mishra, dashed all their dreams to ground and produced match-winning figures of 4/31 in the second ODI.
After making his ODI debut in 2003 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, Mishra remained out of the international stage in the following years.  The leg-spinner recently made his comeback into national side in the lieu of his excellent performance in the just-concluded
fourth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mishra represented Kumar Sangakkara-led Deccan Chargers in the Twenty20 league and emerged as the best bowler for his outfit. The 28-year-old, with 19 wickets, was also the fourth leading wicket-taker in the
competition.
Although, he failed to pick up a wicket in the first ODI, he proved his worth in the second game. After trying his two important fast bowlers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s stand-in skipper gave the ball to trustworthy Mishra in the 9th over. The right-arm spinner
started his spell with a slip and silly point in place and was right on the money in the first over.
The Windies got off to an outstanding start as the two openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kirk-Anton-Edwards-c71510, scored 57 runs for the first wicket stand. Mishra was the man who provided his team the much-needed breakthrough in the 12th over, dismissing Edwards
when he was batting at 25.  The Delhi-born deceived the batsman with a lovely leg-break and the ball went straight into the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parthiv-Patel-c2159 after getting an edge from Edwards’ bat.
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RR-Sarwan-c2371 and Simmons were hammering other Indian bowlers, Mishra kept on bowling beautifully, not letting them score fluently against him.
Raina brought him into the attack in the final powerplay and Mishra didn’t disappoint his skipper. The leg-spinner claimed his second wicket in the 42nd over when he trapped the dangerous http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754 in front of his stumps. Pollard tried to
sweep the ball for big one but failed to judge Mishra's variation.  The ball hit him on the front leg and the umpire did not hesitate to raise his finger in bowler's favour.
In his next over, Mishra once again did the damage and sent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379 back to the pavilion. The dazzling all-rounder aimed to go for a mighty six but misjudged the delivery which was going away and the shot eventually finished in Harbhajan Singh’s hands
at long-off.
On the very next ball, Mishra bowled http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CS-Baugh-c1293 out and bagged his fourth wicket in the innings. Baugh attempted the big drive towards cover-region but he had no clue that it was a dangerous googly. The ball knocked the stumps down after touching Bravo’s
bat.
It was Mishra’s last over and everyone could hear the clap while he was taking his cap back from the umpire.
