India desperately needs an all-rounder says Roger Binny - Cricket News Update
Former Indian cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Roger-Michael-Humphrey-Binny-c86496, has said that the reason behind India’s poor showing in the current tour of England is the fact that India does not have a genuine all-rounder, who can contribute with both bat and ball.
India is currently facing a torrid time in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 as the Men in Blue have lost all the three Test matches so far and they are on the verge of facing one of the most disastrous series defeats, in case of a whitewash in the last Test at
the Oval, which is going to start from the 18th of August.
The Men in Blue have struggled in all the three departments of the game. They failed to score big runs, they could not get wickets at the right time and spilled a number of easy catches as well.
Binny, who was also an all-rounder in his playing days, believes that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 desperately needs someone who can contribute in both the departments of the game. However, he understands that there is no such cricketer at the domestic level
as well because the youngsters are not motivated to become all-rounders, because of all the hard work required.
Binny expressed that an all-rounder is always someone with the natural ability but he questioned the ability of the Indian cricket officials, who have failed to spot talent.
He said, “The thing with an all-rounder is that you are born not made. You have to notice such a talent early and explain to them why being all all-rounder is worth it. Is anyone is the BCCI doing that?”
Former cricketer added that he always played as an all-rounder but it can be very difficult at times because being an all-rounder can be a very thankless job at times.
“I played for my school as an all-rounder, I played for my college as an all-rounder, I played for my state as all-rounder and I played for my country as an all-rounder. There was no question of doing things in any other way. Batsmen and
bowlers hog the limelight. But an all-rounder is rarely ever mentioned. He is not appreciated,” Binny added.
