India favourite to win the series against South Africa: Ex-SA skipper Clive Rice

Rice, the ex-SA skipper, who had led the side for the first time against India back in 1991, added, “They can take several wickets between them, but it is too much to ask that they should take out Indians twice in a Test. The Indians have a well-balanced
team, with their spinners and fast bowlers who can combine excellently and are a threat on any pitch.”
Coming out with a totally different opinion to those who had thought that fast bowlers will play a vital role in the series that is going to start in Centurion, Rice said that spinners would mark the ultimate difference for both sides.
Moreover, he said, “Their knowledge of local conditions will play a big role. India will be better prepared than they were before and, with Gary’s fantastic management style, I believe they should be regarded as the favourites in this series,” added Rice.
He was of the view that under Greg Chappell’s coaching; Indian side was much equipped with all the tools which were necessary to handle the rivals from SA. Gary, according to him, knew better about how to put a team into a tight unit and how to make use
of their full talent.
