and India calling it a “boring” day.
“We score generally quite quickly as a side,” said Cook while talking to the media reporters after notching his career best 294 on Friday, “but when you bowl a side out in two sessions (England bundled India out for just 224 in the visitor’s first
innings) you can bat as long as you want,” he added further.
England, after sacking the tourists for a below par first innings total of 224 runs on the Day one of the third Test underway at Edgbaston, Birmingham, went on to score 710 for 7 declare, thanks to opener Alastair Cook’s more than thirteen hours’ stay
at the crease. This is England’s highest Test innings total in the past 73 years.
Having set a lead of 486 runs, England are in complete command of the match where a win will not only earn them an unassailable 3-0 lead in the four-Test series but would also see them leapfrogging India to the top of the ICC’s Test rankings table.
