India in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 2011 - Harsha Bhogle says India can still bounce back in the series – Cricket News Update
Harsha Bhogle, the Indian cricket commentator and a renowned analyst, feels that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 can bounce back in the series with a win at Edgbaston.
Bhogle, in an interview with a leading India sports channel, urged the bruised and battered India to start believing that they can win the Birmingham Test.
When asked whether http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and his men can bounce back in the series after devastating performances in the first two Tests, Bhogle asked not to write off the world’s number one Test side.
He said that India should have equal rights to the series, because there have been moments, both at Lord’s and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826, where the tourists controlled periods of play, rather they controlled a couple of sessions.
The cricketing analyst has asked India to take positives from the first two days of the Trent Bridge Test where the Indian attack, despite the absence of frontline pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379, kept the England batting line up under check.
The Poms, after a convincing 196-run win in the first Test at the Lord’s, struggled in their first innings at Nottingham as some quick inroads left them reeling at 125 for 8.
The 50-year-old cricket commentator believes India, as a team, can still bounce back.
If you look at this team as collection of Individuals, yes they have the ability to bounce back,” said Bhogle. “I don’t say it would end 2-2 but they should at least start believing that they can do this,” he added further.
The injury of India’s prime strike bowler, Zaheer Khan, is India’s major setback in the series. However, Bhogle has urged India not to think about Zaheer Khan anymore. He said that every player should now think how can they move on from here.
Zaheer Khan sustained a hamstring injury on the first day of the Lord’s Test on July 21, and has been ruled out of not only the Test series but also the entire tour, as his recurring Hamstring and ankle injuries are supposed to take 14-16 weeks to recover
completely.
India are currently trailing England 0-2 in the four-match Test series and a defeat at Birmingham would not only mean maiden Test-series defeat in Dhoni’s captaincy tenure, but also losing the top spot on ICC’s Test rankings table.
