India bowled superbly as they continued their string of brilliant bowling performances against the shaky New Zealand batting line-up in the 3rd One-day international at Reliance Stadium, Vadodara. As a result, Indians have set themselves a modest
225-run total to chase down.
India elected to field first as they offered the fragile New Zealand batting line-up to bat in trying conditions. The Indian seam bowlers took significant advantage of the decent bowling conditions as the fast bowlers swung the ball in the air and moved
it off the pitch.
New Zealand openers gifted their wickets in the first power-play as they played poor shots. The wickets for the visitors fell on a regular basis as they had no clue about the opposition bowling. The home team have to blame themselves as-well, as some of
stroke- play was absolute rubbish.
The tourists lost their first four wickets a bleak score of 49 runs. Two of the top Kiwi batsman failed to make a significant impact with the willow as they managed single figure scores. Brendon McCullum went back to the pavilion without bothering the scorecard
after being dismissed for a golden duck. Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, the best batsman in the New Zealand team, only managed to collect 4 runs.
At one stage, India spinners had restricted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 to 106 for the loss of 7 wickets in 30 overs.
On the contrary, a 94-run promising stand between James Franklin and Nathan McCullum revived the New Zealand innings. The pair anchored their team’s innings to some sort of a competent position; otherwise things would have been more than worse for the tourists.
Franklin was the star of the show for the touring team as he played a brilliant knock to rescue his team from a struggling position.
Moreover, in the process, the left hander remained unbeaten for a defiant innings of 72 runs. He struck five boundaries and a six.
Nathan provided his partner with a valuable support as he racked up a competent score of 43 runs in an aggressive manner.
Bowling for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 was brilliant as Zaheer Khan Munaf Patel swung the ball early on in the innings. Zaheer Khan’s comeback was amazing as he recorded brilliant figures of 2/31 in his eight overs. Munaf, on the other hand, was the most economical bowler as
he only conceded 28 runs in his quota of 10 overs, scalping a wicket.
The spin bowling for the home team was remarkable as the spinners grabbed four wickets in the opposition innings. Ashwin has impressed the most with his gritty off-break bowling. Resultantly, the off-spinner scalped 2/49 in 9 overs. Pathan bowled economically
as he also grabbed two wickets in the middle overs to dent the opposition.
A target of 225 runs seems to be gettable for the strong batting line-up of India. New Zealand has to produce a miraculous bowling performance to beat the home team.
