The Rawalpindi Express, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 not playing against each other. The flamboyant speedster is baffled, as to why the Indians are not playing their arch-rivals more regularly.
Akhtar believes that by not playing against Pakistan, the Men in Blue are depriving the cricket frenzy fans of both countries from what they love the most.
The Rawalpindi Express shed light on the comments of the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, in which he claimed that the Indians do not play Pakistan because they fear what the Green Shirts have in stored for them.
Advising the PCB chairman to adopt a softer tone when making such claims, Akhtar said, “Obviously it is frustrating the way the Indians have avoided playing us for some reason or the other all these years. But I think Zaka Ashraf's statement was a bit too
strong and he needed to be careful while giving comments because of his position as PCB chairman.”
Akhtar, however, alluded to Ashraf’s comment by stating that Pakistan has fared better since 1985, he said, “I think he meant that Pakistan in the form that it is currently, could beat anyone. It is also a fact that since 1985 we have won more matches against
India because we have produced some of the most exciting talent in international cricket.”
India and Pakistan last faced each other in the 2011 World Cup semi-final played at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali. The Men in Blue emerged victorious in that game by 29 runs and they went onto win the World Cup as well.
As far as a bilateral series is concerned, Pakistan last toured India in November 2007 for a three matches Test series. India won that series 1-0. The two sides have not played a single Test match since then.
However, the Men in Green were scheduled to tour India in March 2012 according to ICC’s Future Tour Programme (FTP) but the series was called off. The series has been replaced with the Asia Cup, in which all four Test playing nations of South Asia, namely
India, Pakistan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 will take part.
