India pacer Irfan Pathan eager to make a comeback to national side – Cricket news
The out-of-favour India pace bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-Pathan-c1601 is desperate for a comeback to the national side and has said that he will do everything to don the Indian colours once again.
The 26-year-old bowling all-rounder from Gujarat said that his foremost aim has always been to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and will do his level best to regain a place in the national side.
“For me personal goal is I want to make a comeback to Indian team. My foremost aim is to play for the country and I will make sure that I will do everything to fulfil that dream,” said Pathan while talking to media reporters on the sidelines of the opening
ceremony of a sports stadium at the Novotel http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 Airport.
Pathan, who is playing for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in the ongoing 2011 season of the Indian Premier League, is out of the Indian cricket team for the past couple of years due to injuries and lack of form. He has not played for the Men in Blue in any of the three
formats of international cricket- Test, One Day International and Twenty20- since June 2009. His last international appearance was a Twenty20 match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Lord’s on June 12, 2009.
Irfan, the half-brother of Yusuf Pathan, made a startling start to his international career as a left-arm seamer. He troubled the opposition batsmen with his pace and swing but ran out of favour due to a spat of injuries followed by a prolonged plunge in
form.
However, the left-armer feels things are getting better and is foreseeing his future as an international cricketer bright once again. He vowed to contribute with both bat and ball if given a chance by the Board of Control for Cricket in India selectors.
“I would like to contribute with bat and ball at the same time and I need to have bit more patience because I am playing cricket after a big lay-off,” said Irfan.
He said that he was not playing much cricket over the past couple of years due to injury and that was frustrating for him. Pathan said he was happy that he is playing cricket once again and vowed to make a comeback to the national side soon.
