India rules second day with 14 victories in Austrian International Challenge 2012
The second day of the Austrian International Challenge surely belonged to the Indian shuttlers as they won all their matches convincingly.
Not only the prime singles shuttlers Parupalli Kashyap, P.C Thulasi and the top seed duo Rupesh Kumar-Sanave Thomas ruled the courts but the young brigade of Neha Pandit, Sameer Verma, K. Srikanth, Aditi Mutatkar also followed the success path set by their
seniors.
The splendid victory saga includes 14 victories in a single day. The Indians, technically and tactically, outclassed their opponents in all categories.
In Men’s singles qualifying round both Indian lads marched into the main round. The young Indian Sameer Verma shined against Jakub Bitman and bagged the victory with final score of 21-7, 16-21 and 21-18.
The second Indian male contestant in qualifying round Srikanth K overpowered his British challenger Nathan Dcruz by scoring 20-22, 21-4 and 21-12 on the board.
The Indian badminton ace Parupalli Kashyap buried his Czech rival Jan Frohlich with a notable margin of 21-13 and 21-12. The Czech defense lasted only for 27 minutes against the India’s prime invader.
H.S. Prannoy excelled against the British shuttler Andrew Smith and ended the match after keeping scorers busy for 45 minutes to show final score sheet of 21-16, 8-21 and 23-21.
The young Sameer Verma continued shining in the next round also and hammered his Austrian challenger Michael Lahnsteiner with 21-15, 19-21 and 21-11 score on board.
On the other hand, the Indian women’s expedition started with the young female shuttler Neha Pandit hunting her Bulgarian opponent Dimitria Popstoikova with decisive score of 21-15 and 21-16.
The next Indian shuttler was P.C. Thulasi to join the party and she stunned third seeded the British singles player Elizabeth Cann with final score of 21-17 and 21-13 before the Indian girl Aditi Mutatkar thrashed her opponent Iris Wang of U.S.A by registering
21-17 and 21-15 score on the board.
Neha Pandit, who paved her path to the main round by clearing qualifiers, sustained her perfect record and pocketed second victory of the day by beating Portugal’s Telma Santos with decisive score of 16-21, 21-16 and 21-9.
The Indian women’s doubles team did not stay behind also and won the match in just 16 minutes against the Austrian women’s doubles team Katrin Neudolt-Bianca Schiester. The Austrian ladies were no comparison to Jyotshna p. and P.C. Thulasi as the Indians
wrapped up the match by scoring 21-11 and 21-0.
The Indian mixed doubles pair Hema Nagendra Babu-Jyotshna P registered their presence by clinching the match against the duo Maurice Niesner-Severine Corvilain of Germany and Belgium with final score of 21-11, 19-21 and 21-13.
The Indians ruled in men’s doubles category also and the top seeded pair Rupesh Kumar- Sanave Thomas found no problem in forcing Birger Abts and Jesus Lorenzo to bow down after just 18 minutes fight. The Indians excelled with notable margin of 21-10 and
21-13.
The second Indian men’s double pair Tarun Kona- Arun Vishnu was class act against Slovenia’s duo Luka Petric-Alen Roj and they finished the match with straight sets victory by scoring 21-15 and 21-14 on the board.
As the sun set in Austria, the last Indian men’s doubles team Manu Attri-Hema Nagendra Babu concluded the day by remaining victorious against Mark Flato-Patrick Kaemnitz of Germany with decisive margin of 21-10 and 21-11.
The second day of the event has fully charged the Indian players and they are determined to continue their run of success on the third day of the Austrian International Challenge 2012 also.
