http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 by eight wickets in the sixth match of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy at Kennington Oval, London.
India kept West Indies batting in check throughout the match before the late heroics of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 put his side in a comfortable position. West Indies managed to post 233 on the board, as Sammy jabbed an unbeaten
knock of 56 runs off 35 deliveries.
The damage by Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja was severe as the bowler, almost out of nowhere, bagged five wickets in ten overs to leave West Indies in ruins and had it not been for Sammy, the Windies might have
crumbled on a lower total. The bowler was later named as the Player of the Match.
However, the Indian batting which is arguably the strongest in the tournament, prevailed once again and they reached the target in 39.1 overs for the loss of only two wickets.
Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 102 played an instrumental role in helping his side take the match.
Earlier, after winning the toss, India chose to field first aiming to restrict their opponents on a meagre score. They struck soon enough by nabbing the prized wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 who faltered against Bhuvneshwar
Kumar after scoring 21 runs. At the time of this wicket, West Indies were on 25.
The partnership between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RA-Jadeja-c2238 trashed the party by bagging Charles for 60.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RR-Sarwan-c2371 were both unimpressive, as they walked off the field after scoring a single each.
With 140 on the board, Bravo was the next man to hit the showers after smacking a knock of 35 runs off 83 deliveries.
Meanwhile, the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc upon their opponents and almost had them bowled out before 200 runs until Sammy changed everything.
With a competitive target to defend, West Indies bowlers needed to put pressure on the Indians right from the first ball. However, nothing went their way as Indian openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 and Dhawan crafted a stand
of 101, before the departure of Sharma, who fell to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 after hammering 52 off 56.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KD-Karthik-c1780 (51) saw their team through to the semi-finals.
