India sweeps Indonesia in a Pool G match of 16th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship
A Pool G match of the 16th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship took place on Sunday, September 18, in the city of Taipei, China. The match was held between India and Indonesia while the venue of the competition was the Taiwan University Gymnasium.
India flexed their volleyball muscle and won the match by making a clean sweep over their opponents.
The first set of the match was dominated by the Indians all through. However, the Indonesians stepped up their game and gave India quite a challenge to reckon with in the second set. Despite the fact that Indonesia also lost the second set, they did not
give up in the third. In the end India proved to be the better side as it bagged the match at the following final set scores: 25-14, 29-27 and 25-23.
The first set of the match began with the Indians taking the lead with the coming of the first technical time out at 8-5 thanks to their superior spiking skills. When the two sides came back onto the courts, Indonesia could not pull itself together and fell
to making errors that further increased the gap to 16-7. The Indonesians felt the pressure mount and tried to respond but the effort came in too late and India sailed smoothly towards a win at 25-14.
The second set of the match started tough as both the sides tried to take dominance of the courts early on. Eventually, the Indonesians were able to get the advantage at 7-3 but by the time the first technical time out came, India was back in the game with
an 8-7 lead. However, the Indonesians were not ready to give up just yet and got the advantage back at 17-16. Before long, the set reached a tie at 24-24 and after a tight tug of war, India was able to bag another win at 29-27.
The third set started off with sparks flying between both the sides as Indonesia wanted to avoid a sweep whereas India planned to end the match as soon as possible. As a result, the match went back and forth for the most part but the Indonesians were attacking
more powerfully and defend more vigilantly. As the set reached it final stages, the score stood tied at 21-21. However, as the Indians got to 22-21, the Indonesians called for a time out to break the momentum of their rivals. Unfortunately the strategy did
not work and India sealed the deal on the game at 25-23.
The player that was able to register the highest number of points in the entire match was the Indonesian player Amalia Fajrina Nabila, who was able to put up 17 points for her team while the Indian top scorer was Abraham Minimol, who tallied a total of 16
points.
