India tour of Australia 2011/12: Sydney Test – Ganguly pins hopes with Sachin and his 100th ton
Former Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Tuesday, January 3, 2011.
The 39-year-old former Indian batsman from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 anticipated his ex-teammate’s much awaited hundredth international ton this time around.
"Tendulkar has always been very highly rated in this part of the world - one can say everywhere - but I just get a feeling that when one comes to this country (Australia) the excitement with him has been just that more every time and, to be honest, his batting
just goes one notch higher on the hard, bouncy pitches," he said.
Last week’s 122-run defeat at the hands of a callow Australia side was India’s fifth consecutive Test defeat abroad, a streak that started in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in 2011 summer, where MSD’s side was thrashed 4-0. Ganguly, though concerned about India’s growing winless
Test run abroad, was confident the iconic batsman would lead the side from the front on his favourite Sydney Cricket Ground.
Sachin’s 100th ton has acquired immense hype, and the batsman has failed to achieve the milestone in the past six months, even though he has been inches away from it at times. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 feels overwhelmed with his fans’ expectations,
however Ganguly completely denies this notion saying that his former opening partner is known for his composure.
Praising Sachin’s adroitness with the bat, Ganguly said that he has passed the test of time and has always emerged better whenever his game was considered to be in jeopardy.
Ganguly thinks Sachin was confident and sturdy at the MCG, and he hopes that the Master Blaster continues with the same momentum to become the winning force for the Indians in the remaining three Tests of the four-match series.
“He has looked very solid at the MCG on a pitch which had a fair bit of help for the quicks. His feet have moved superbly, which is an indication that his mind is thinking the right way,” said Ganguly.
“I can guarantee you that if he keeps batting like this he will make a major impact on the remaining three Tests and probably get past that magic landmark in this country," he hoped.
