India tour of England: Zaheer Khan’s inclusion still a doubt for Edgbaston Test- Cricket News Update
Left-arm Indian pacer, Zaheer Khan's inclusion into Indian side for third Test against England at the Edgbaston Test is still in doubt, as it seems that Zaheer has not yet fully recovered from the hamstring injury, which sidelined him from the 2nd Test match, played at Trent Bridge.
Although, the left-arm pacer took part in a two-day tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northamptonshire-c824, he only charged in for three overs, whereas a total of 83.2 overs were bowled by the Indian bowling unit.
Anirudh Chaudhry, the Indian team's manager, stated that the only purpose to bowl Zaheer for a few overs, was to give him some match practice before Edgbaston’s clash.
Chaudhry held, “Giving http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379 a few overs was always the plan, the reason he did not bowl more was not because of any problem with his hamstring. Whatever the status is regarding Zaheer, we will issue a press release as and when his status is absolutely clear to us.”
The manager announced that they have not decided on Zaheer’s matter as yet and will publicize when they come to a final conclusion.
“The call is to be taken by our physio and right now he has not given his final call on whether he is ready or not. Zaheer will continue with his day-to-day rehabilitation programme that we have set for him, but we will know by tomorrow whether he can play at Edgbaston on Thursday,” said Chaudhry.
The left-arm pacer picked up a hamstring injury in the first Test, which the Indians lost by 196 runs. During that game Zaheer could only manage to bowl 13.3 overs before limping off the field.
Zaheer is the last glimmer of hope for the Indian bowling department, which has been taken apart in this series by the English batting force. Without Zaheer’s presence, Indian bowling looks mediocre, and apart from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566, no other bowler has done well.
India’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453, the premium spinner of the Indian side, has been ruled out of the series, and all responsibility lies on Zaheer’s shoulders, as India’s most experienced bowler.
The Indians are trailing in the npower series by two matches, and in the third Test, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s number one Test status will be on stake.
