Question:

India trip Qu: Is it okay to book a flight to India before you get your travel visa?

I want to get my round trip tickets to India today, for my trip on August, but I have not yet applied for my visa. I've checked the visa website and have made sure that I have everything that I need for the visa (passport, application, etc.) and I have enough time to get it. Would it be foolish to get tickets without getting a visa first? Thanks!!

PS: I see no reason why I would be denied for a visa (no criminal record, I work a normal job, I'm going there for vacation only, etc).

  1. where do you live. If its the UK and you are near to London or Birmingham you can arrange a visa in one day by going down there and queuing up. In peak season it may take a full day but between now and August I would suggest it might only take a few hours. To me London seems more efficient and you can be done within a morning however in Birmingham, you have to return (after applying) after 2pm to collect the visa. Go ahead and book you should have no problems

  2. Though you do not anticipate any problem in getting the visa, it will be always better to take the ticket after getting the visa.  Alternatively you should take refundable ticket,so that in case you arenot able to make the trip on the booked date, you should not be a looser.
